The local work ahead
NCDOT has awarded an $18 million project near Mayodan at US 220/US 311 and NC 135, including a wider bridge, turn lanes, and sidewalk work. The county transportation plan also identifies congestion on NC 135 and 41 bridges classified as structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. Broadband programs have extended access to thousands of addresses, but eligible unserved locations remain.
District 65 priorities
- Advance planned corridor improvements and repair deficient bridges.
- Coordinate roads with water, sewer, industrial, housing, and emergency-access needs.
- Close remaining broadband gaps with accurate coverage maps and accountable build schedules.
- Improve cellular reliability and address affordability barriers where adoption remains low.
- Protect electric reliability and ratepayer affordability in every energy decision.
